Alex Jacobs was born in 1953 at the Akwesasne Reservation, near Rooseveltown, NY. Alex completed an Associates degree in Fine Arts (sculpture, creative writing) at the Institute of American Indian Arts in 1977 at Santa Fe, N.M.,and a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts (sculpture, creative writing) at Kansas City Art Institute in 1979. He is an instructor at the University of New Mexico since 1991, and has been editor of a number of journals.  Winner of the Poetry Award, Scottsdale National Indian Art Exhibit, in 1975.
Jacobs is an associate professor at Northern Arizona University and the former Dean of Education at Oglala Lakota College. He is a member of the Wolf Clan of the Southern Band of the Cherokee.  Author of several books including Unlearning the Language of Conquest : Scholars Expose Anti-Indianism in America, in 2006.
M.A. Jaimes-Guerrero is an Associate Professor of Women Studies at San Francisco State University. Her publications focus particularly on Native American women and early indigenous peoples.  She has authored one book entitled, The State of Native America : genocide, colonization, and resistance / edited by M. Annette Jaimes.
Author of Catch the whisper of the wind: inspirational stories and proverbs from Native Americans, Cheewa James is a writer and TV producer of Modoc heritage, and is the great-granddaughter of the Modoc warrior Shacknasty Jim. She was born on the Klamath Reservation in Oregon, and grew up in Taos, New Mexico. She studied at Colorado College, the University of Oregon and the University of Missouri, earning a B.A. in Communications from Northwest Missouri State University as well as a secondary teaching certificate. Her career has included working as a ranger-interpreter for the National Park Service, and as a reporter, anchorwoman, author, publisher and lecturer. She currently lives in Sacramento, California.
Rudy James, a Kuiu Tribal spokesman and historian, was raised in a remote SE Alaska Tlingit Indian village. He is active in working for continuation of the Tlingit People's cultural heritage and spiritual values. He also serves as the Lead Judge for the Kuye'di Tribal Court and the Combined Tribal Court of Tlingit Law. James is a member of the Board of Directors of the International Human Rights Association of American Minorities. He is author of the book Devilfish Bay : the giant devilfish story.

Author of Understanding Algonquian Indian Words, Julianne Jennings is a member of the Seakonke tribe of Wampanoag and wife of Moondancer, she actively promotes and educates people on the culture of New England Indians.
Paulla "Sunflower" Dove Jennings of Rhode Island is a respected Niantic Narragansett educator, historian, and author. Her activities include being Curator of the Tomaquag Indian Museum, a storyteller for "First Things First", and Gaming Commissioner for the Narragansett Indian Tribe.
Beverly Deer Jensen, a Shinnecock Indian, is a journalist. Her writings have appeared in "New from Indian Country".
Rex Lee Jim is an education specialist at the Navajo Community College. He is a Dine Educational Philosophy instructor at the Navajo Community College and served on the steering committee of Global Interactions for the China-U.S. Conference on Education. He has written a book of the collected quotations of Native people.
